On Saturday, I found out I am pregnant!!! I will admit that Adam and I were a bit suprised by the news. We had made the decision to not use birth control in 2012, so after my pack ran out around the end of December that was it. Obviously I knew that I could get pregnant quickly but I just sort of assumed it would take a couple months for the birth control to leave my system. Turns out, I needed one period and then away we go! Kind of feels meant to be.
When am I due? Not sure yet. I went to the doctor today to get a blood test done since it is difficult to say with my situation and it is pretty much just guess work. HCG hormones are not accurate but until I can get an ultrasound, they are guessing I am at 4-5 weeks which puts the due date around Thanksgiving/End of November. It is possible I am only 2 weeks along but based on averages, that is the guess.
The best part so far? Getting to tell my parents. It is no secret that my mom wants to be a grandma but we have been shooting her down for almost three years now, so it was nice to surprise her with the news. Telling her was epic...we have video...you're welcome. Not on the video though was something so incredibly rare that I am almost sad I don't have documented evidence; my dad teared up. No, it wasn't a waterfall of happy tears but just seeing my dad get all watery-eyed was special to me. I have only seen it one other time and that was at my wedding. Between my mom's shrieking excitment and my dad's calm joy, it was a beautiful moment.
Anyway, a friend of mine is blogging about her pregnancy journey and I thought it was a great idea to get the important tidbits out there as I make my way towards motherhood so I stole it. I will have Adam post a couple times on here too, since this does sort of effect him as well. I will try not to overshare but I make no promises.
