18 week checkup

Brace yourself for this photo folks...I look HUGE! When I dress better than how I dressed in this photo, I don't look THAT pregnant but I guess you can see that I definitely look pregnant now. haha. This week's lesson: don't wear that black shirt...

Baby is about 5.6inches long (or roughly the length of the pepper I am holding).

Today, I had my monthly pre-natal appointment to check on the heartbeat of our baby. Turns out we have quite the mover in there but once he/she settled enough to hear the heartbeat we got a solid 160bpm. I love hearing that. I can't wait to actually feel the baby moving around in there. According to the doppler, he/she moves around quite a bit but I think I have only felt it once. It was this light fluttering that went away as fast as it came and I haven't felt it since. Of course, if the baby moves as much as the doppler suggests, maybe that is a good thing for now.

On Saturday, my friend Melanie and I hosted a baby shower for our friend, Colleen, who is 14 weeks ahead of me. It was really nice to get to spoil her and her hubby that way and show our support. She got lots of neat stuff to add to her baby collection too, so that is always nice. I have to say that the co-ed baby shower was a really nice way to go about it! There were no awkward games and because there was such a mix of people and loose atmosphere everyone seemed to have a pretty good time!

Anyway, next week Adam and I are on vacation and we are planning on building a pergola in the backyard for a hammock area. This is our 3 year anniversary gift to each other and I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to some relaxtion time. Then, it is THE appointment we have been waiting for on Monday, July 9th. The doctor told me that it is rare that they can't tell the parents the gender so I am hoping Adam and I don't land in the "we can't tell you" category. I am incredibly anxious to know whether Taquito is a boy or a girl. I don't even really care which gender it is, I just want to know. How dare this child keep such a thing secret from me?!? BAGH! Two weeks...two weeks and then the secret will be out and Adam and I can start doing some more gender specific shopping. :)

YAY for a healthy baby AND nearing the halfway point!
