Desi is around 13.62 inches long and 1.46lbs
On Sunday I celebrated by 26th birthday and Adam really worked hard to make it special for me. :) Every year, there is a meteor shower that hits its peak around midnight on my birthday and ever since I was a little girl I would sneak out to the deck to watch the sky welcome my birthday. I never had anyone with me and sometimes I couldn't see anything (thank you cloudy nights) but that didn't matter. I knew they were out there saying "Happy Birthday" to me. This year, Adam took me out to Birch Bay, where there wouldn't be any light pollution, at midnight to join me in watching the stars and it was phenomenal. I have never gotten to see so many (I think we saw around 30 or so) and such big ones before. So, there we were laying on a blanket on a picnic table staring up at the sky, seeing shooting star after shooting star, Desi kicking me, and at midnight Adam leaned over and whispered "Happy Birthday". Utter perfection.
Then after a good night's sleep he also surprised me with some of his delicious homemade blueberry waffles in the morning and a Google Nexus 7 tablet! To be honest, I had no idea that I wanted a tablet but it is freaking amazing! I highly recommend it. After breakfast, Adam played in his new garden while I played with my new toy and then we headed over to Boulevard Park where Adam arranged for our closest friends to be there. It was a wonderful day.
And in baby related news, he keeps moving more and more everyday and today my mom actually got to feel him kick and see his little hiccups. My mom has spent pretty much the entire summer at Hood Canal so she hasn't had the chance to actually feel the baby kick yet. So, while she was home for my Birthday and before she headed back to the cabin, she really wanted to get to feel him. First, let me be clear, Desi is not a shy kicker. If he is moving he is not going to play the elusive game like I have heard some mothers dealing with. He will kick your hand as much as you want and pretty hard too. Well, today he decided he was going to mess with my mom or something because he would only kick when she was out of the room. I was starting to get worried that it wouldn't happen for her but after a little bit of a sugary breakfast he became his usual wiggle worm self for mom. She got to feel several pretty good kicks and then just to make her feel better, he got the hiccups so she was also able to see my stomach pulsing up and down until he got his diaphragm under control.
Whew! We have made it to 25 weeks and it seems like every week I get to check the next item off my pregnancy to-do list. This week it was having my mom feel the baby and experiencing fetus hiccups. Maybe after dinner tonight, my dad will be able to feel Desi too and we can check that off the list as well.
